Burnley make their Premier League return on Friday night, as they face Manchester City in the curtain raiser for the season.

In a game which has numerous interesting storylines, Burnley take on last seasons treble winners to kick-start the season.

A champion vs champions affair, with Burnley hoping to translate their centurion form to the Premier League.

The game also once again see Vincent Kompany take on his old club where he spent so many years.

Clarets fans at Turf Moor will be keen to see some new faces in action, and we fully expect Burnley to give the reigning champions a good game.

While ultimately nobody can expect a victory against City, there should be some positive takeaways from the tie.

Here is how we would line-up…

Burnley predicted XI vs City

Kompany has been highly ambitions in his targets for this season, saying he wouldn’t be content with just securing survival.

In goal, Kompany has a huge decision to make between his two ex-City goalkeepers.

Arijanet Muric has been featuring in pre-season heavily, however we think it will be new boy James Trafford who takes the number one position.

In central defence we see Jordan Beyer and Hjalmar Ekdal starting ahead of Dara O’Shea against City.

Left-back is currently a real weakness for Kompany as the club are yet to replace last seasons loanee Ian Maatsen, therefore Charlie Taylor should start.

At right back, Conor Roberts should start due to the position being his to lose.

In midfield, Sander Berge could go straight into the starting XI we feel, next to Josh Brownhill.

Ahead of these two we see Nathan Redmond starting on the right following his arrival this summer.

Anass Zaroury should also start with the left winger spot becoming his.

Behind the striker we see the talented Swiss star Zeki Amdouni starting due to him maybe not being ready to lead the line.

Up front, we have gone for Lyle Foster over Jay Rodriguez, due to age and the fact Foster has more of a future.

Burnley possible XI : Trafford; Roberts, Beyer, Ekdal, Taylor; Berge, Brownhill; Redmond, Amdouni, Zaroury; Foster.
