Josh Brownhill has discussed Burnley’s poor start to the season and thinks his side can put the poor start behind them.

Burnley have seen all three games so far result in heavy defeats to Manchester City, Aston Villa and Spurs.

These are obviously games which would have been expected to be difficult, but speaking during the international break, Josh Brownhill has explained that he is keen to see the team bounce back.

The 27-year-old has insisted that the player need to keep their heads up in games if Burnley are to get points going forward.

Upon return to action, Nottingham Forest await them which is a much more winnable game for the Clarets.

Brownhill expects better going forward

The Burnley Express have reported that Brownhill doesn’t think the losses represent Burnley’s performances and suggests they deserve more credit.

“In the first-half we showed a lot of good spells, especially to get ourselves ahead so early on,” he said.

“But they’re a good team with some very good players and when they get a chance they put it away. It’s very disappointing to be honest, because when we go a goal down or two goals down our heads go down. We need to get our heads up because there’s still a lot of the game left to play.

“When you’re playing against the good teams it’s hard to get anything from them and Tottenham have started this season very, very well and have recruited some good players.

“We’ve had a really tough start to the season. You go in there [the dressing room] and the lads are going to be down, rightfully so, because we didn’t put out our best performance.”

He however emphasised the need for the club to bounce back and get points on the board, starting next weekend.

“But it’s a long season, it’s a tough one. It’s completely different to last season, so we’ve got to stick with it, keep learning, but we’ve also got to take it up another level because this is what the Premier League is.

“There’s a little bit of a break now, which is a chance to relax and come back with a game against Forest, which is a big game for us where we’ll 100% be going out for the win.”
