Burnley are considering a move for Grady Diangana this summer.

According to Express & Star, Burnley are amongst the clubs interested in signing Grady Diangana in this transfer window. West Brom have put a £7 million price tag on the player, with Saudi Arabian clubs, Leicester City, and Leeds United also keen.

West Brom paid £18 million to bring Diangana to the Hawthorns in 2020, after the player had impressed whilst on loan with the club. Since making his stay permanent, though, Diangana has failed to really kick on.

Diangana has been a regular starter for Albion, but has struggled to consistently produce goals and assists. In 31 Championship outings last season, the 25-year-old managed 4 goals and 3 assists.

Since making his move from West Ham permanent, Diangana has made 94 appearances for the club, scoring just 7 goals in that time.

The former England under-21 international has plenty of talent, but is stagnating at the Hawthorns. Whether he is ready to take the step up to the Premier League with Burnley is up for debate. However, Vincent Kompany will certainly back himself to be able to get Diangana back to his best.

Should Burnley sign Diangana?

Kompany needs to add depth to his squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign. The Clarets have already been busy this summer, bringing the likes of Dara O’Shea, Zeki Amdouni, James Trafford, and Nathan Redmond, amongst others, to Turf Moor.

Diangana would certainly add depth in the attacking midfield position, and he has the versatility to operate on the flanks if required. At £7 million, he wouldn’t represent a huge outlay either.

However, Burnley may well be able to do better. It would be a big ask for Diangana to impress in the top flight, given his form over the last few seasons. Kompany should turn his attentions elsewhere.
