Burnley are now looking to sign a new striker this summer following the arrival of a goalkeeper, with their target now identified.
The Clarets are well known to be keen on improving their offensive option ahead of a new level of opponent.
Wout Weghorst may have returned, but his Premier League performances for Manchester United won’t have given Vincent Kompany any confidence that he is the man to lead the line.
Reports have said Weghorst will leave while others have insisted he is set to stay. One thing for certain, Michael Obafemi is currently out injured which just highlights the lack of striker options currently at Turf Moor in his absence.

Many fans are clamouring for the club to sign a goalscorer, with goals likely to be a huge catalyst in whether or not they survive the drop. Now Burnley appear to have targeted their man, coming in the form of Cremonese’s David Okereke.
Burnley target Okereke
Burnley have looked toward Italy for their attacking option with Okereke reportedly a target.
According to TuttoMercato, the Championship title holders side are targeting Okereke, the 25-year-old scored nine goals for a poor Cremonese side last season in all competitions.
The fact he scored that many goals in a side which won only nine games in all competitions shows he is a good forward. The report adds that due to his performances in a losing team, it is ‘difficult’ to imagine he stays and plays in Serie B.
With a market value of £3.8million, he is more than affordable for the Clarets, who could almost recoup double that if Weghorst was sold.
However Okereke likely doesn’t bring a guarantee of goals that Kompany will be keen to acquire. It will be interesting to see how this potential move transpires.
