Albert Sambi Lokonga has seemingly moved a step closer to joining Burnley from Arsenal with a move now accelerating.

Burnley are now reportedly closing in on a deal for Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga.

This report comes according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri who has claimed the deal is close to completion.

He added that a meeting took place on Wednesday between the two parties in order to work out a solution for Lokonga’s future.

It is believed that this meeting was held by the Clarets with the intention of finalising personal terms for the midfielder.

The deal has been described to be ‘getting closer’ and now it’s believed only the final details are needed before the transfer could be completed.

Lokonga will be glad to see the back of the Emirates, as he never quite seemed appreciated or comfortable in North London, despite having joined just two years ago for a huge £17million.

Despite his initial promise, he has became lost in the group as Arsenal continue to improve and develop their squad.

Lokonga to reunite with Kompany

Lokonga will likely relish a return to the management of Vincent Kompany which could revitalise his career.

The two worked together at Anderlecht where Arsenal bought him from, and during this time Kompany was a huge fan and believer of the player.

The legendary Belgian defender even went as far as calling Lokonga ‘special‘ when comparing him to Yaya Toure.

Lokonga had a whole lot of potential and if anyone can get it out of him, it will be Kompany at Burnley.

This deal seems to be perfect for all involved and therefore it should absolutely come off.
