Han-Noah Massengo was once among the most exciting young midfield prospects on the continent.

Massengo broke through at Monaco even making his Champions League debut at the Ligue 1 side.

However in search of first team football, he bravely made the move to Bristol City, where despite showing his talented, was overshadowed by Alex Scott.

Last season Massengo spent half at Bristol before moving to AJ Auxerre in January in chase of game time.

14 Ligue Un appearances with 10 Championship games should give him a good standing to attract wide interest.

Massengo rejects Burnley

According to reports in France, the French Under-21 midfielder has rejected Burnley who made an approach to sign the talented star.

L’Equipe say that the 22-year-old turned down the chance to join Vincent Kompany at Turf Moor.

They continue to add that the reason for this rejection was due to his desire to join a club where he will play a considerable role in the team.

At Burnley his starting spot wasn’t guaranteed which is why he has opted to search for other opportunities.

Massengo has received huge praise with his teammate at Monaco saying to FootMercato: “He is a young player who has a lot of intensity in his game. I think he is complete, both with and without the ball.”

Midfield priority for Burnley

Burnley are clearly in the hunt for a new midfielder as they continue to look at Gustavo Hamer, despite Coventry desperate for him to sign a new contract.

Massengo now another name off the table for Kompany, it will be interesting to see where he targets next.

Hamer is a deal that we feel is still likely to occur, with the player seemingly keen on the move.

Burnley has however completed another deal this morning as they sign Luca Koleosho. The Italy Under-19 winger has joined and will be an interesting prospect at Turf Moor.
