Burnley are part of a Premier League trio tussling over Southampton striker Che Adams.
According to the Sun, Vincent Kompany’s side join Nottingham Forest and Everton in the chase for the recently relegated Scotland international.
The striker only has a year left on his current deal at St. Mary’s, but could still cost up to £15million this summer should he depart the Saints; the same fee they paid for him back in 2019.
Adams has made 145 appearances for Southampton since signing from Birmingham City, scoring 31 goals and registering 15 assists during that time, but was ultimately unable to help the Saints in their bid for survival last season.
Beginning his career in non-league, Adams’ path to the Premier League began with Oadby Town as a 16-year-old.

He made 33 appearances in the United Counties League, 27 of which came as a starter, and scored five times before signing for Ilkeston Town in the Northern Premier League the following campaign.
Another successful season followed as he made 40 league appearances for the Robins, scoring nine times and lifting the Derbyshire Senior Cup before he was on the move again.
Sheffield United, who were in League One at the time, beat off a host of sides from higher divisions to complete the signing of Adams on a two-year deal. He had soon signed a new three-year contract with the Blades after continuing to impress, but it was not enough to stop Birmingham from snatching the youngster for a reported fee of £2million in 2016.
It was at St. Andrews where his career really kicked off. He scored 38 goals and assisted a further 13 in 123 appearances for the Blues prior to making his Premier League switch.
He received his first call up to the Scotland squad in 2021 and has since been capped 23 times, finding the net on six occasions.
Would Adams fit the bill?
Still only 26 years old, Adams now has plenty of top flight and international experience and could prove to be a very tidy addition for the Clarets should they strike a deal.
Burnley currently have four forward options at the club in Jay Rodriguez, Michael Obafemi, Lyle Foster and Wout Weghorst, but it is seemingly evident that a new addition is needed in order to compete next season.
Adams just may be that man.
