Kompany aims for rotations against Salford in the EFL Cup

Vincent Kompany saw his side remain winless in the Premier League over the weekend.

Despite playing a really good game ultimately the Clarets couldn’t muster up enough to trouble Manchester United.

A 1-0 loss, all while dominating possession and creating a lot of near chances which shows encouraging signs.

However despite their being positives, ultimately Kompany won’t be happy as his side continue to flounder.

But now he has to chance to see his side once again in EFL Cup action against Salford at the Peninsula Stadium.

Kompany wants to give others a chance v Salford

Looking ahead to the game on Tuesday in Salford, Kompany said: “It’s a good game for us.”

The Burnley Express continued to report: “There are a lot of players you haven’t seen yet that we think have a lot of talent and quality and hopefully we’ll be able to bring them closer to what we want to do.”

This likely in relation to the vast number of signings which Burnley made in the summer, many of which yet to really get the game time needed to make a statement.

Salford are in bad league form but have already shocked two Championship sides to get here, beating both Leeds and Preston on penalties.

Burnley should be able to rotate for this game and give some minutes to players who have struggled thus far, but need to also be wary of a potential upset.

Who could Kompany start?

In goal, Arijanet Muric is likely to replace James Trafford, while several outfield players will be hoping for a chance.

Dara O’Shea, Hannes Delcroix, Vitinho, Jack Cork, Jacob Bruun Larsen, Manuel Benson, Anass Zaroury, Nathan Redmond, Han-Noah Massengo and Jay Rodriguez will all be looking to play.

This should be safe enough to rotate given Salford are struggling, and could even inspire some confidence among the Burnley players.

Hopefully we will be able to progress into the next round.
