Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has said that upcoming international break will give his side a ‘mental break’ after a poor start to the season.
The Clarets have failed to pick up a pint from their opening three games of the Premier League season in three very tough games.
After losing 3-0 to Manchester City on the opening day, 3-1 to Aston Villa and most recently letting an early lead to end up losing 5-2 to Tottenham, Burnley sit bottom of the Premier League.
Despite the start, Kompany has expressed positives over his side’s attacking qualities recently but has said there is work to do defensively.
15 players are set to head out on international duty over the next fortnight, and that gives the rest of the squad time to have a ‘physical top-up’.
What Vincent Kompany had to say

Kompany told the Burnley Express: “We have a lot of internationals now!
“It’s funny because my first year, the first international break around this time we had about 20 to 25 players staying back and I wasn’t used to that. For the entirety of my career I’ve always been in squads where there’s five players training with the Under-21s during the international break.
“I think we’re getting to that stage now, because nearly everyone is going somewhere.
“Some of the senior players will stay of course, so the international break for us is a moment to give them a bit of a mental break or a physical top-up and we can individualise it a little bit which is good for us.”
It will be another sixteen days before Konpany’s side returns to action against Nottingham Forest.
