Reports in Turkey have suggested that Besiktas are interested in re-signing Wout Weghorst, with Burnley expected to agree to terms.
Burnley striker Wout Weghorst has long been expected to depart this summer. The Dutchman spent last season on loan at both Manchester United and Besiktas.
The latter of these sides are now expected to make a move for the 6 foot 6 forward. According to Turkish outlet Fotomaç, Besiktas are “in the picture to sign Wout Weghorst.”

It adds that the striker is wanted as a back up option to Vincent Aboubakar.
Burnley are expected to be willing to agree to terms proposed by the Super Lig side, if a move is to go ahead.
Besiktas previously had a €10million (£8.6m) option to buy Weghorst within the loan which was cancelled in January. This was confirmed by the clubs sporting director Ceyhun Kazanci in November.
Wout Weghorst’s career since joining Burnley
Weghorst joined Burnley in January 2022 from Wolfsburg, his move came as Burnley faced relegation. However he was little help in the fight, scoring just two goals and contributing three assists in 20 games.
Only six months later in July he departed Turf Moor following the club’s relegation, joining Besiktas on loan. Weghorst seemed to regain his confidence in Turkey, scoring nine goals and adding four assists in just 18 games.
In January his loan to the Turkish club was cut short, as Manchester United paid £2.5m to the Istanbul outfit to take him on loan.
Weghorst struggled once again in England, with identical stats to his Burnley stint, but in 31 games this time. Leaving many of the Old Trafford faithful frustrated as he missed chance after chance.
It now appears an inevitable return to Besiktas is coming, a good move for all involved we think.
