Burnley have already brought in a whole teams worth of players this summer which has seen the Clarets get off to a rocky start this season.

The window has already seen Burnley sign strong players in every position that was needed, bar one.

Last season, Burnley’s left-back was Chelsea loanee Ian Maatsen, who has since returned to his parent club.

Maatsen was among Burnley’s top performers last season as they achieved promotion back to the Premier League.

But he is a name that Vincent Kompany has been wanting to bring back to Turf Moor due to his brilliant displays.

Now however the Dutchman is making regular first-team appearances for Chelsea, but Burnley remain confident they can negotiate a deal.

Burnley working on Maatsen deal

Maatsen was a favourite in his time at Burnley, and now it is being reported he could potentially be on the cards for a return.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri has tweeted on the situation of the deal which has been bubbling all summer.

Burnley are said to be working on a loan deal to sign the left-back who is thought to be open to a move.

Tavolieri also reported that there are likely to also be offensive targets who could join Maatsen at Turf Moor in the last few days.

Maatsen would become the 14th incoming of the season for Burnley if he was to arrive.

He would arguably be the most important though given he would fill a position which currently is an issue for Kompany.

Burnley will be hoping they can bounce back and pick up their first points of the season this weekend against Spurs at Turf Moor.
