Burnley are on the verge of securing the services of Mohamed Daramy.
According to The Athletic, Burnley have agreed a deal with Ajax to sign Mohamed Daramy. The agreement is structured as a season-long loan agreement, with an obligation to buy built in, which will ultimately see Burnley pay £12.9 million to sign Daramy on a permanent basis.
Daramy joined Ajax in 2021, in a deal worth an initial €12 million, equivalent to around £10 million. However, he failed to establish himself as a regular starter, and last season returned to previous club Copenhagen on loan.
Daramy rediscovered his form in the Danish Superliga, scoring 8 goals in 28 outings in the division as he helped the club to secure the title. The 21-year-old clearly benefitted from the regular game time and will heading into the new season full of confidence.
However, there is a significant risk for Vincent Kompany in bringing Daramy to Turf Moor.

Kompany gambling on Daramy’s potential
Whilst Daramy was impressive for Copenhagen last season, there is a significant step up required to shine in the Premier League. The Danish attacker will need to time to adapt to the demands of English football.
Whilst Burnley’s recent promotion will have boosted their spending power, £12.9 million still represents a significant outlay. Kompany will be hoping that Daramy can quickly start living up to his potential following his arrival at Burnley.
The Belgian coach has developed a reputation for developing and getting the best out of young talents. He relied on plenty of youngsters to fire his side to promotion from the Championship last season and is clearly determined to stick to his principals this season.
Burnley fans will be hoping that Kompany’s bet on Daramy comes good and that he can have a significant impact for the club this season.
