Norwegian midfielder Kristian Malt Arnstad has suggested that a move to Burnley would have been a ‘dream’. This comes after Vincent Kompany saw a £4.5 million bid fail.

Burnley had been keen on bringing the 20-year-old to Turf Moor from Anderlecht.

He had previously worked with Vincent Kompany at the Belgian side, and clearly had impressed the Burnley boss in that time.

The move is one the player was also interested in as he revealed in an interview with Norwegian outlet VG, over the international break.

In this interview the self described ‘aggressive’ and effective in and out-of-possession midfielder explained the reason for a deal not occurring.

However with his own self-description, it is clear to see why Kompany is interested given he shares traits with all of Burnley’s midfielders.

During his time with Arnstad, Kompany hailed the midfielder’s drive. The reunion however didn’t come off despite three Burnley bids, including one valued at £4.5million.

Burnley could return for Arnstad

The Norway under 21 international explained “They didn’t agree (on a fee). But, of course, it’s cool to have some interest,”.

“I had (Kompany) for the first two years he was in Anderlecht. We have a good relationship, and you learn a lot from having him. He is an absolutely fantastic coach. You notice that he has been under Pep (Guardiola) and other coaches for a long time as well.

“He has absorbed a lot there that he tries to teach the rest of us. He has a lot of respect among everyone around him. You just have to take in what you can.”

Arnstad then continued to explain his desire to potentially make the move eventually.

“Of course, it’s cool. It is a dream to play in the Premier League one day,” Arnstad adds. “Now, there was no agreement, so I just try to focus on where I am now.”
