Burnley had expected to complete the signing of Dodi Lukebakio on Monday, however this deal now looks at risk.

Vincent Kompany’s side kicked off the season on Friday in a way many expected, with Erling Haaland giving a harsh welcome to the league.

Burnley were completely ran through by Man City however there were some moments which will have gave Kompany reasons to be positive.

Burnley played some great football against City, with Zeki Amdouni at the centre of everything positive.

The Swiss forward’s silky dribbling and quick feet made him a tough player to defend.

With that arguably being the hardest game of the season, there should be some positives coming up.

However the first positive was expected to come on Monday, but this hasn’t came to fruition, here’s why.

Lukebakio deal complicated

Dodi Lukebakio looked set to arrive at Turf Moor, however interest from La Liga has turned the deal on its head.

Sevilla have however joined the race at the last moment which halted the Burnley move for now with a potential hi-jack underway.

According to the Berliner Kurier, the Belgian was supposed to sign for Burnley on Monday.

This until Sevilla re-ignited previous interest in the forward making the Clarets’ hunt for Lukebakio more difficult.

The situation as Belgian reporter Sacha Tavolieri said is a ‘very strange’ one which could see the Hertha player go either way.

It is thought that Burnley hold the financial edge in this race for his signature which could be the winning factor.

An interesting week ahead for Lukebakio and Burnley.
