Burnley are interested in Fiorentina striker Christian Kouame.

According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, Kouame is attracting the interest of the Premier League new boys.

Kouame also has interest from France in the form of Nantes and Lorient, with the former reportedly having two bids rejected.

Manager Vincent Kompany worked with Kouame in their time together at Anderlecht.

Who is Christian Kouame and would he be a good signing?

Kouame is a 25-year-old Ivorian international, who started his career in Italy at Prato.

He spent time on loan with the under-19 sides of Sassuolo and Inter Milan, before joining Cittadella in 2017 after an initial loan spell.

He only spent a year at Cittadella before moving on to Genoa for around €6 million. After a year and a half at Genoa, he joined current club Fiorentina on loan in January 2020 before making it permanent in the summer for around €11 million.

He then spent 21/22 with Kompany at Anderlecht, scoring eight goals in 31 appearances in the Pro League. He spent last season back in Florence, helping them reach the final of the Coppa Italia, and the Europa Conference League, where they lost to West Ham United.

It is unclear whether Burnley really need a striker, with options like Jay Rodriguez and Lyle Foster already at the club, whilst the Clarets have also bought Zeki Amdouni from Basel for a fee believed to be around €20 million.
Burnley have primarily targeted wingers all window, being linked with a return for Nathan Tella from Southampton after he starred last season for the Clarets. They’ve also been linked with Johan Bakayoko of PSV Eindhoven, Dodi Lukebakio of Hertha Berlin and Ernest Nuamah of FC Nordsjaelland, although he looks set to join Lyon.
